All Aboard Florida | SOM

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) one of the most immense and leading architecture, interior design, engineering, and urban planning architectural firms in the world present their innovative intercity passenger rail project “all aboard Florida”, located in Miami, Florida. It is considered to be evolved by Florida East Coast Industries, Inc. (FECI), owner of Florida’s premier passenger rail corridor approximately 235-mile network of rail lines that will connect South Florida to Orlando with intermediate stations in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

It will utilize the current rail infrastructure for the Florida East Coast Corridor between Miami & the Space Coast by creating new tracks into Central Florida. This rail service will provide visitors a viable transportation to overcrowded highways & airport terminals. The transformational infrastructure project will provide a significant service for Florida residents & visitors as well as it will eradicate more than three million car routes from the region’s roadways each year.

This innovative solution allows streets to sustain open to traffic and for valuable street front real estate to remain leasable. “SOM is renowned for its inspiring, award-winning design, strong track record of fostering public consensus, and ability to translate infrastructure investment into regional benefits,” added Vincent Signorello, president of Florida East Coast Industries, Inc.
