Rolling Through the Bay | Scott Weaver

This guy puts all of us hard working creators of things and art to shame. Estimating over 3,000 hours of work and counting, on this crazy complex, intricately devised kinetic toothpick sculpture, San Francisco artist Scott Weaver has got talent an a lot of attention span. Titled Rolling Through the Bay, the sculpture is an ever growing collection of landmarks iconic San Francisco and its surrounding areas, through which pin-pong balls roll along many different ‘tours’. The millions, perhaps hundreds of millions of toothpicks are sourced from all over the world and from many different companies, forms (round or squared) and colours. He states,

I have used different brands of toothpicks depending on what I am building. I also have many friends and family members that collect toothpicks in their travels for me. For example, some of the trees in Golden Gate Park are made from toothpicks from Kenya, Morocco, Spain, West Germany and Italy. The heart inside the Palace of Fine Arts is made out of toothpicks people threw at our wedding.
