Drawing on themes from human history and culture such as Etruscan funerary chambers and George Orwell’s 1984, as well as (re)interpreting the myth of Atreus, the concept tower Atreus designed by Crilo Architecture, is an inspiring view both to the past and the future.

The drawings and style of representation reminisce of drawings done by Mies van der Rohe and his contemporaries, while the overall concept with its stray from conventional verticality and its multiple heliports, speaks strongly of future development. Clad in an ‘armour’ of black metal and dark glass, cracks open up in the form to reveal the interior program. A spreading foot below the building sits as an infrastructural and circulatory node- a preparation for the ascent into the tower.

Oh and what a fantastic section, huh?
