Tree Table | Sebastian E

The Tree Table is a- you guessed it- table, designed by Sebastian E and which was first exhibited at Design Miami 2008 at a solo show orchestrated by NY gallerist Cristina Grajales (Cristinagrajalesinc.com). It is part of the designer’s ‘Death Series’. Each table weighs almost half a Ton consists of ‘one of a kind South American “Crespon” tree that is carefully de-rooted, cut, dried, sanded and dyed in a process that can take months.’ There is an extensive ‘casting period’ for each piece where hundreds of candidate trees are inspected. Following this process, a final tree is selected and taken to be dried for several weeks- after which the designer and a team of carpenters begin work to this unique piece of collector’s furniture.
