The Collage Collection | DSIGNIO

The Collage Collection is a shelving and cabinetry system designed by Spanish based firm DSIGNIO for ‘Back to 1907’. It is made of overlapping cubes and cuboids that appear like an extruded element on the wall. Inspired by the art of the twentieth century, the idea was to  create a usable object by the repetition of simple elements. Bearing traces from Cubism, Neoplasticism and Suprematism, the design of the Collage Collection focuses on the creation of a complex system of simple objects over superfluous elements. That’s why it was stripped down to its simplest forms and all ornamentation  removed. Various compositions of the design are possible. The strength of the collage collection is increased by adding elements like a sofa ,an arm chair, a table etc. According to the designers, ” The final result is halfway between art and design. It is not a sculpture; it is an object resembling a sculpture, a complex collection based on simplicity.
