The promiscuous cube is a part of public square in West Hollywood, California which strives to create both magnificence and openness with a relatively smaller area.
The process started with investigative research of architectural and aesthetic application of certain 2D forms created by scripting software which were later turned into 2.5 D. These were further applied onto generic 3D forms before the much traditional shape of the cube was finalized. But instead of all, only one side was decided to be mutilated.
This was then hovered a little above the ground to free up space and only a few edges and points were made to strike the ground. These were either in the form of either razor sharp inflections or with soft meandering curves.
The resulting form is a contradiction at best, organic yet cubical, open yet in an enclosure. as an experience. It is enhanced further by reflections of the initial drawings projected all over the structure. It is a project by the duo Varouzhan Torosdamy and Evan Emery.

Born and raised in Ukraine, she holds a Master’s degree in Languages from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Her deep passion for architecture and visual storytelling led her to transition from translation and editorial roles into the world of design media. With a keen eye for conceptual clarity and narrative structure, Anastasia curates and presents global architectural projects with precision and flair. She is particularly drawn to parametric and digital design, cultural context, and emerging voices in architecture. When I’m not analyzing the latest architectural trends, you’ll probably find me searching for hidden gems in cityscapes or appreciating the beauty of well-crafted spaces. After all, great design—like great connections—can be found in the most unexpected places. Speaking of connections, because architecture isn’t the only thing that brings people together.
