The Teshima Art Museum designed by the Tokyo-based architect Ryue Nishizawa in cooperation with the artist Rei Naito, is a space that must be seen to be… well it just must be seen, we’ll leave it at that.

The museum’s central feature is its gracefully formed concrete shell which exists open to the elements, with two striking elliptical openings.
The shell is only 25cm thick, a sizing that seems adequate when compared against the human scale at the walk through openings, but quickly moves to the realm of the amazing when viewed at the bounding of the elliptical roof opening in the centre of the expansive roof. There are no columns, it is free, open, unbelievable space.
