These beautiful kinetic sculptures were created by the 70 year-old artist Bob Potts. Not that his age is particularly relevant to his trade, but it is certainly worth applauding. On close inspection, each work is comprised of intricate and yet, exceedingly simple mechanics.
The minimums of material and connection are employed to create motions mimicking animal flight and the rowing of traditional river craft. It is in this care of creation and detailing that perhaps the age of the artist is worth noting. It speaks of a patience and wisdom of economy that can only come with years of living and learning.
