Ahh, pixilation. And not just any pixels. 3,621 wine cork pixels; meaning this work of art and illustration, titled Trisha, by Scott Gundersen was probably fun to make and probably even more fun to prepare for. A drawing was created from a photograph. Following this, the artist pierced the image with 6,134 nails and fixed, as stated above- 3,621 recycled wine corks to the image based on tonality. The gradation of tones was achieved through the various levels of wine-staining on the inside of the corks, while the whites were created by the flip-side of the cork, the exterior. There is a video which chronicles the creation of this work. It is almost as delightful a piece of art as the illustration itself.
