Well, I think I know what needs to be the next purchase for the dec at my parents’ house. Look Ma’ it’s wicker! It is really wonderful to see something that I myself have almost completely written off (or at least forgotten about) completely reimagined in the design world. Wicker has become something plasticized, recreated, reproduced and mass produced. But at its heart and soul it’s a material that is hand woven to whatever form the designer has the vision for.
And the architect/designer Fabio Novembre has quite the vision. 36h 56h Driade by Studio Fabio Novembre, are two chairs (figure out for yourself which is which, I couldn’t) made of woven wicker and resin. They are wonderful works of furniture, both with the same topology, only exercised slightly differently.
