Tree Ring Woodcuts | Bryan Nash Gill

Holy Nature, Batman! The fantastic woodcut prints by US artist Bryan Nash Gill trace every aspect of the tree’s life up until it was cut. They are an exceedingly literal take on the word woodcut. By first applying a thin coat of ink, followed by washi paper and hand compression, a wonderful display of exotic forms are revealed in the smoothly cut tree section. There’s an eye, a strange attractor, a warped Wu-Tang logo and some just plain old great tree rings.
