Nanjing Youth Olympic Centre | Zaha Hadid Architects

The Youth Olympic Centre masterplan expresses the continuity, fluidity, and connectivity between the urban environment of Hexi New Town, the agricultural farmland along the Yangtze river and the rural landscapes of Jiangxinzhou Island. An additional proposal by Zaha Hadid Architects includes a pedestrian bridge to link the plaza with the other side of the river.

The Youth Olympic Center is located west of Nanjing Jianye District, overlooking the River shores of Iceland, the end of the axis of the Youth Olympic Games is the south side of State Avenue, north of Leshan road and the Jinsha River Road, west of the Yangtze River Avenue. The center includes a 46.9-meter high floor conference center, a 314 m layer of 68 five-star hotel and office, there is a 249.5-meter and 58 layers of the conference hotel and ancillary facilities. The two high-level conference center in the 15 meters and 21.12 meters in the air corridor connectivity.

The building features a Conference center, including a 2181 conference hall, a 505-seat concert hall, four multi-purpose halls 1000 ㎡ -1800 ㎡, as well as conference rooms, VIP room, the actors dressing room, kitchen, staff houses equipment room and other related facilities. the ground on six floors of the building, ground floor.
The towers create a dynamic transition from the vertical of the urban CBD to the horizontal topography of the river. The taller tower signifies the position of the Youth Olympic Plaza both within the urban grid of Hexi New Town and on the Nanjing Skyline. The natural landscapes of the river are connected to the urban streetscape of the new CBD through the fluid architectural language of the mixed-use podium and conference center. This architectural composition juxtaposes the vertical (city) and horizontal (river and landscape).
