Concrete block | Mohamed El Kady & Khaled Lotfy

The “concrete block” design is a multi-function street furniture piece which can perform as many street furniture pieces at the same time. Just move, rotate, combine and you will get a new street furniture piece. From benchs to flower boxs with any shape. The concept is inverted from the LEGO blocks. It is a single block to create endless shapes.

The blocks is created from precast concrete which is considered cheap comparatively in addition to maximum durability as the block does not contain movable or weak parts which need future any sophisticated or expensive maintainance.

This design was submitted by students Mohamed El Kady & Khaled Lotfy to the AUC AA competition “Design for the people, Design for the street” held in April 2012 and won the 2nd place.
