Zaha Hadid Architects Developed 27 EAA Foundation Tents for Refugee Societies to Use as Schools, Clinics, and Emergency Shelters

To assist and sustain displaced people, the International Organization of Migration (IOM) and the Qatar Red Crescent will soon receive 27 EAA Foundation tents developed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy and its human and social legacy program, the Generation Amazing Foundation, and the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation provided the grant.

The announcement was made during the launch of a ZHA-EAA tent inside the FIFA Fan Festival in Doha. It is part of the nation’s commitment to ensuring that the World Cup has a beneficial, long-lasting impact once the tournament ends.

The EAA Foundation tents intend to benefit from natural light and offer weather protection. The modular design makes the constructions portable and straightforward to set up and take down in different locations. Additionally, they incorporate recycled and upcycled components. The lightweight, cost-effective shelters use a fabric enclosure to modify the architectural system to address the diverse programmatic requirements.

“We have a partner in Education Above All who shares our commitment to funding creative design projects for the benefit of underprivileged and vulnerable members of society. Together, we created a sturdy, affordable, and lightest customizable architectural system with a fabric envelope to create buildings that can be altered in various ways to suit the needs and way of life of displaced children and children on the go.

We expect the recently donated tents to provide thousands of people in Yemen, Syria, and Turkey with protection, education, and leisure. Gerry Cruz, project architect at Zaha Hadid Architects”.

Zaha Hadid Architects contribution to the EAA Foundation tents:

More than 70 million people, half of whom are under 18, are believed to be internally displaced and living as refugees, according to the Education Above All Foundation. As a result, there is an urgent need for infrastructure that can accommodate displaced youngsters and their families as emergency accommodations, shelters, medical facilities, and schools.

Zaha Hadid Architects has gotten involved to give these communities adaptable and appropriate entertainment, education, and development settings.
