Right now in Costa Rica there is no theater or auditorium that can accommodate over a thousand people in an artistic presentation in both optimum acoustic conditions such as ergonomic and formal design. This project seeks to accommodate a solution of this scale in the Capital City, aiming also to give the value it deserves the development of musical art that also carries in itself an irreplaceable formative power in human progress and the country life. The proposed project involves the design of a mixed-use auditorium for 3,000 people at the level of draft, following the theoretical guidelines needed for optimal acoustic performance and formal level. Also raises the immediate vestibular area and landscape area that surrounds the entire master plan. The design development of the auditorium is based on the principle form follows function”, regarding the development of the vestibular and landscape area, working under the opposite principle: “function follows form”.The concept developed for this proposal has as its starting point the composition of a musical piece: searching through the physical sensation of sound the “journey” through exterior and interior space. A harmonic progression with the shape of a “continuum” is provided by the designer for the user to create their own tune or melody while walking through foyer and landscape. Soundscape “Auditorium, Foyer and Landscape” is the name of that journey that culminates with the enjoyment of art in itself. Thus, the space takes the intention of giving prominence to the user and artistic activity staging. The author of this project, in addition to being an interior designer, is a professional violinist.
