Real Madrid’s New Headquarter | Rafael de La-Hoz

This design brings an end to Real Madrid’s search for a comprehensive corporate headquarter. The winning proposal for the design competition was selected for the unique balance between its futuristic outlook and viability. This entry comes from the studio of Rafael de La-Hoz, along with inputs from a building company Ferrovial Agroman. A building located right within the city of Valdebebas, Madrid; ‘Ciudad Realmadrid’ would encompass an area of 8,000 square meters once constructed.

What’s unique about this proposal, apart from its balancing swerve, is the proposed mechanism of the building. The architect discusses as to how the spatial design integrates the structure as a whole, without compromising with the services or the administrative spaces, by just establishing the right equilibrium between both.

As per the renders revealed by the firm, the form of the building is fundamentally divisible into two large cuboidal volumes, transformed and slid across each other. The purity of form, devoid of any additional charades, not only expresses a minimalist approach, but also respects the existing terrain. The main solid resembles to an extended periscope, offering a vantage view towards the city. Whereas the smaller volume, situated towards the rear side, is oriented towards the training grounds of the city.

The architect further adds to this by saying “All workplaces share a fluid, transversal space, flooded with light.

Large and prominent glass facades can be seen in the renders. The new headquarter has been designed to serve executive activities of the football club. The linear transparent design of the built, as appearing in the renders, is programmed to accommodate most of the corporate staff. Nevertheless, the offices of the administrative officers and club members would still remain in the club’s existing office, at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

The completion of the project is expected after 16 months. Till then, detailed updates of the project are awaited.
