Miniature Calender | Tatsuya Tanaka

Japan-based art director and photographer, Tanaka Tatsuya creates fun and imaginative dioramas by placing miniature figures in all sorts of whimsical scenes. Tatsuya been working on a very special project called Miniature Calendar , every single day for the last five years.

Tanaka says, “Everyone must have had similar thoughts at least once. Broccoli and parsley might sometimes look like a forest, or the tree leaves floating on the surface of the water might sometimes look like little boats. Everyday occurrences seen from a pygmy’s perspective can bring us lots of fun thoughts.” A key word here is everyday. Tanaka has actually committed himself to releasing one of these scenes everyday, a project aptly titled Miniature Calendar, and has been doing so since April 2011, using everyday objects as props, the tiny people can be seen diving off a popsicle stick into a blue ocean, using bananas as a half-pipe, and playing golf on a grassy iPhone case.
