Maison vs House | Atanas Zhelev, Martino Hutz, Mariya Korolova

This research aims to design a new typology of a house and a vehicle suitable for the life in the megapolis of 21C.
Our driving motivation is architecturally guided structural optimization in order to achieve interaction between columns and slabs. We try to find the balance of architectural vision and structural rationality.

In comparison to Maison Domino, our approach is to adapt the structural columns to the needs of specific spacial conditions. Transformation from columns to wall-like elements and staircases as well as integration of the columns with furniture like seats and tables is introduced.

The structural force flow generated from the distribution of the columns is visualised into a double sided beam structure which result in wooden floor and ceiling. The wooden beam structure co-relate with the vertical structural elements into a functionally articulated space.

The bicycle is following the same design logic but profiting from the material wood used in a smaller scale.
