Le Morandine are a series of candles designed by Sonia Pedrazzini whose shapes bring to mind the famous still lifes of Giorgio Morandi. The intention of this project, other than to pay tribute to the Great Master, is to enable people to “do as Morandi”, to experience the same deep interaction that he had with the everyday objects he painted; a relationship totally focused on concepts of slight movement, time dilation and interior luminosity.
They are arranged in groups of four in the cool and warm hues most often used in Morandian tones.
The Le Morandine candles, with an opaque and chalky look, embody the waxy light of Morandi’s paintings. Individually handmade through the method of casting, they have an etched “weave” pattern, which is done by hand and makes every candle unique. All the components of production were selected according to strict specifications and ensure quality standards of excellence.
The Pattern
The concept of the Le Morandine line has been developed from the observation of lines, circles and pencil sketches Morandi marked on his work table to determine the correct placement of objects, and thus, establish the perfect artistic composition.
To complete the project, a pattern was created that reproduces, in a stylized way and with contemporary graphics, a “map of Morandi”, with the circular signs being the positions of his bottles. Those who own these candles know that one can interact with them, arranging them on a level with the same freedom with which the Master moved his objects before capturing them on canvas.

The Packaging
The packaging for the Le Morandine series was created to be high quality and yet environmentally friendly. The easy to assemble one-piece box is coated and lined with elegant textured paper and is made from 100% recycled corrugated cardboard, facilitating both easy storage and disposal. A white logo embossed on the lid follows the motif of the circular pattern.
