It’s a bike.. it’s a car.. it’s an i-Road! an electric personal mobility vehicle.

Toyota debuted its two person, all-electric, lithium-ion battery and pod –like i-road at the 2013 Geneva motor show. A single charge can take a person as far as 50 Km in a “safe, intuitive and enjoyable, helmet-free driving experience.”

The vehicle is very responsive, thanks to a lean actuator motor and gearing mounted above the front suspension member. The actuator is linked via a yoke to the right and left front wheels that move automatically wheels up and down in opposite directions based on the information calculated from steering angle, gyro-sensor and vehicle speed. Its small size (2,350 mm long and 850 mm wide) makes it possible to park 4 vehicles in a spot traditionally allocated for one vehicle.
