The works Highstack and Lowstack, designed by Bratislava-based firm ALLT, is a contemporary furniture-based take on the methods used for drying in the lumber industry. To facilitate the drying of roughly processed dimensional lumber the cuts are stacked on palettes with thin, wooden shims in-between to facilitate air and heat flow around the whole piece of wood. A randomizing technique was used for the individual pieces which are stacked to make up the module. One module makes Lowstack, multiples makes Highstack.
