We think it’s important to challenge yourself with mind-expanding tasks. Graphic designer Nick Sayers has mastered one of these tasks, the art of geodesic sphere making with materials ranging from British rail tickets, plastic Coke bottles and playing cards. The structure of these spheres has been made without glue or adhesive relying solely on strategically placed cuts in the materials to hold everything together. Each card is forced into a curved form because it locks with a neighboring card at two points which are closer together than a card’s width. Light from an internal lamp escapes dramatically from under these curves.
