DSO-Plex | Söhne & Partner Architects

DSO-Plex designed by Söhne & Partner Architects focuses on the idea of how future progresses in the technology can help re-envisions and broaden the limits of our future. The structure consists of a secluded curvilinear passageway that can be accessed through three prime gates, all which are elliptical shaped platforms that serve as the only access point between the interior of the building to the outer public context.

The interior functions are all closed off and act as a kind of independent microcosm that allows the possibility for individuals to engage in a commercially, indulged lifestyle. The structure’s exterior skin goes about using solar panels to store and produce most of its electricity as it also protects the interior programs from excessive daylight but also permits daylight to seep in through the use of a bright facade. The three main passage ways are tied together through a iridescence flaky exterior mesh that affects the display of the building throughout the day; the effect is usually establish through the applications of combing multicoloured foil with a glass paneling system. DSO-Plex represents a kind of free formed structure that has this dynamic qualities as if it can achieve many different forms.

The exterior is a kind of rigid structure with angular points, where the structure tends to curve near the a central area. While the interior looks as if it does not have any sharp angles but rather becomes a tide of continuous curved elements seen through the walkways and the walls of designated programs. DSO-Plex’s use of contrasting geometrical elements as well as advanced technological applications provides an interesting insight to futuristic design.
