CR Land Guanganmen Green Technology Showroom | Vector Architects

Sustainability and temporality go very nicely hand and hand. On the other hand, too much temporality- in the form of a badly constructed building- is obviously not very sustainable. The CR Land Guanganmen Green Technology Showroom designed by Vector

Architects in 2008 was conceived as having a 3 year life span and to portray sustainability to residents of the area through a meaningful perspective. The original plantable area is tripled through the use of two grass paneled facades and a green roof. These produce thermal efficiency and greatly reduce storm water runoff.

Through the use of shop-constructed structural steel and stilts for the building to sit upon, both construction time and excavated impact of the site were kept to a minimum. After the end of the pavilion’s life, the steel can be recycled for use in future projects.
