The Christian Dior Flagship Store | Christian de Portzamparc

The Christian Dior

We go to bed each day having encountered a number of stunning structures and we ask that ridiculously rhetorical question “can it ever get better.”  And right there for all to see at the dawn of another day, is a brand new masterpiece for the world to appraise and admire. As a popular Nigerian proverb rightly quips “Wonders shall never end.”  June 20, 2015, the world was wowed by yet another beautiful architectural structure as the doors of Christian Dior Flagship Store in Seoul, Korea, was opened.

Designed by the Pritzker Prize winning French architect Christian de Portzamparc, the Flagship Store in Seoul designed for  legendary fashion designer Christian Diors is an exclusive boutique to house his exquisite array of cloths, foot-wears, and accessories.”I wanted the surfaces to flow, like the couturier’s soft, woven white cotton fabric.” ”In Seoul, where the quadrangular buildings align with the avenue, and which are all occupied by leading international fashion labels, the building stands out like a large sculptural tribute to Dior, inviting everyone to step inside” explains the architect Christian de Portzamparc about his design approach.

The six-story structure displays in concept, execution, and finish a high level of creativity and efficiency that complements Christian Diors unquestionable history of excellence and quality. It features a dramatic staircase, an exclusive VIP Lounge, and a gallery.

All furnished with carefully crafted works by remarkable artists such as Claude Lalanne(the French sculptress), Lee Bu(one of Asias leading female artists),  Hubert le Gall and Hélène de Saint Lager(both French artist), Véronique Rivemale, Rachel Hovnanian, and Rob Wynne.

And an interior designed by Peter Marino which features glass, steel materials, and a variety of details on the ceiling and the floors.

Befitting structure for a deserving client. More Architects the world over should be thus daring and adventurous and “bumble forward into the unknown” as Frank Ghery puts it. Every body deserves to experience a lifetime of beautifully designed structures.
